There are alternatives to Microsoft Windows operating system but they still occupy a minority share of the industry. Stealth games is a unique genre in which players have to avoid or overcome antagonists by the use of guile. Games of this type typically allow the player to remain undetected by hiding, avoiding noise, and even using various disguises. Some games allow players to choose between stealthy and aggressive approach but rewarding them for greater levels of stealth. The genre has employed espionage, counter-terrorism, and rogue themes, with protagonists ranging from commandos and spies to thieves, assassins, and ninjas. Some of the best stealth titles have combined stealth elements with other genres, such as FPS games and even platform games. Historically, the most well-known game of this genre is Metal Gear series.
